We launched the Joint Thames Strategy project at the House of Lords, which was kindly hosted by Baroness Susan Kramer. The launch was very well received by other members of Parliament and Counsellors representing boroughs and districts from Surrey to the Sea, whose communities are impacted by flood risk.
The Joint Thames Strategy underpins the mission of TE2100, the Environment Agency’s 100-year plan to safeguard millions of people and billions of pounds worth of property from tidal flooding. We are championing an unprecedented joined-up approach planning policies across all riverside boroughs, addressing flood defence and river access.
The Joint Thames Strategy will be the first ever strategic policy funded by a Regional Flood and Coastal Committee to include local community-led participation and mapping of local heritage assets at risk of flooding, rather than solely funding flood defence works.
